Roy’s Blog: “Being Special”

John the Baptist is an intriguing figure. We find him living the life of an ascetic in the wilderness abstaining from all indulgences, wearing camel’s hair and living off a diet of locust and wild honey.

Later, John draws large crowds to hear him preach. Even the religious leaders come out of Jerusalem to listen to him. He was preparing them for the coming ministry of Jesus Christ.

Jesus says of John, “Truly I say to you, among those born of women there is not anyone greater than John the Baptist. Yet the one who is least in the Kingdom of heaven is greater than he.” Matthew 11:11

John was greater than the Old Testament prophets because he actually saw and personally participated in the fulfillment of what they only prophesied.

All believers can experience the outcome of what the prophets prophesied and John foretold in the ministry, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We can experience it personally through a relationship with Him.
