Roy’s Blog: “The Pit or Cave”

Psalm 107:14 (CSB) “He brought them out of darkness and gloom and broke their chains apart.”

Some people choose to live on the edge. They bungee jump, skydive, climb high mountains, race cars, ride on a raging bull, or engage in other sports just for the thrill of it. Many people live on the edge because circumstances force them into dangerous situations.

Joseph was thrown in a pit by his brothers, then was sold into slavery in Egypt.

David managed to stay one step ahead of King Saul who was trying to kill him.

Daniel was taken into captivity in Babylon, possibly made into a eunuch, was thrown into a dark pit with hungry lions.

Many times we find ourselves on the edge, in a cave, or in a dark pit. Our health, relationships, or circumstances beyond our control can cause us heartache and fear.

Praise God, we like Joseph, David, and Daniel can claim God’s promises. He can lift us from the pit, lead us out of the cave, and guide us away from the edge of the cliff.

  1. Thank you! I am claiming Psalm 107:14 for my loved, lost ones. Father, even brings new lost ones before us everyday. He loves us all and hears our cries. Psalm 5:3 In the morning Lord, You hear my voice; In the morning I plead my case to you and watch expectantly.
As we cry out for other, we never lose hope; but wait expectantly for what Our Lord Jesus can do!
