I Thessalonians 5:2 “The day of the Lord will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night.”
My grandson is in college in Louisville, Kentucky. He talked about the anxious drive home for the holidays and the long hard trip back to school for the next semester. He loves the school and the opportunities it gives him, but it’s simply not home.
Those last few miles coming home are joyous and filled with the excitement of seeing family and friends and the peace he feels from just being home. Those last few miles are full of familiar sites and the knowledge that it’s just a little bit further. And suddenly you’re there.
For multitudes of lost people, the Lord will come suddenly like a thief in the night. But for those who live in anticipation and preparation for the Lord’s coming, we are in the last few miles of home.
