Psalm 150:5 “I wait for the Lord, my soul does wait, and in His word do I hope.”
Waiting. It is the norm of our existence. We wait in line at stop lights that seem to take forever. We wait in longer and longer lines at the store. We wait while someone gets ready. We dream of how much more we could get done if we didn’t have to wait for these everyday things of life.
But waiting also brings anticipation. When we finally get to our destination or that person we’re waiting on is ready to go, we see the end result of our waiting. When the dark cold days of winter get us down we start thinking about and anticipating the spring to come, the warmth, and flowers, and newness of life.
When the trials and heartaches of this world get us down we can know a better time is coming. We can find comfort in knowing that Jesus Christ is coming. God wants us to live in anticipation of that day. That day will change everything. All our trials and troubles will be over.
But until that day: Isaiah 40:31 “Those that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
