Psalm 147:3 “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
God sees the hurts and trials we face everyday. He heals those hurts, those betrayals, and broken dreams. Tragic occurrences can play over and over in our minds and cause sadness and tears. God wants you to give you joy and happiness.
At the same time, God wants us “heartbroken”. He wants us to look at our lives and be heartbroken for how we have fallen short of following Him. We have to come away from our pride in our accomplishments and see ourselves through His eyes. It should break our hearts and cause us to seek a closer relationship.
He wants us to be heartbroken over our friends and relatives who do not know Him, or who have turned away to a worldly life. He wants us to reach out and draw them in.
Ezekiel 21:6-7a “As for you, son of man, groan with breaking heart and bitter grief, groan in their sight. And when they say to you, ‘Why do you groan?’ you shall say, ‘Because of the new that is coming…'”
Psalm 51:16 “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken spirit and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.”
Jeremiah 23:9 “As for the prophets: My heart is broken within me. All my bones tremble; I have become like a drunken man, even like a man overcome with wine, because of the Lord and because of His holy words.”
