Proverbs 15:13 b (NASB) “When the heart is sad, the spirit is broken.”
(John 4) The Samaritan woman lived a sad life. She had had five husbands and the man she was living with was not her husband. All of her dreams were broken. Nothing was going right. The man she lived with did not want to marry her or really even care about her. She was shunned by those around her, for being Samaritan and also for being considered a “loose” woman. No one wanted to be socially connected to her.
She lived a heartbroken, sad life. Many today live sad, broken lives. They may have broken homes and dreams that are long gone. They feel disconnected from life.
The Samaritan woman met Jesus at the well when she came to get water. She left there with the Living Water given to her by Jesus. Do you need to go to the well of Living Water that is in Jesus Christ? Like the woman at the well almost two thousand years ago, we can drink of the Living Water and never thirst again.
