Proverbs 17:22 (KJV) “A Merry hearth doeth good like a medicine, but a broken spirit drieth the bones.”
A day without laughter is like a day without sunshine. We have so much to be thankful for. Millions of people have never experienced the freedoms we have. People struggle to get into America. They don’t struggle to get into Venezuela, or Russia, or Iran. They come here for the “good life”, the freedom to pursue whatever they want.
Yet, most Americans are sad and stressed, not because of what they don’t have, but the things they have don’t satisfy. People continue to look for happiness in things, or the money to buy those things. Some look for happiness in others. Others can disappoint or leave, sometimes they are taken away by disease/death. Then happiness is gone, if that’s what you’ve depended on to make you happy.
Happiness is a choice. It can be fleeting depending on what you have chosen to make you happy. True everlasting joy is internal.
In Psalm 16:11 The Bible tells us that true joy can only come from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He will give you the “fullness of joy”.
