Matthew 6:34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will take care of itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Life is a series of tomorrows. Remember all the summers of playing and running around, and then your hear the words “tomorrow is the first day of school.” You groan at having to crawl out of bed, catch the bus early, sit in class all day and do the lessons. Then, when you get home you had the dreaded homework. Tomorrow didn’t bring joy to my heart. It wasn’t even tomorrow yet and I hated it.
The word tomorrow could also bring anticipation and excitement. Tomorrow it will be Christmas. Oh how I wanted to push the hands of the clock faster. It seemed like time crawled by.
Or, tomorrow is my wedding day (of course, that was fifty years ago). I wanted tomorrow to come quickly. I was excited, yet I was nervous and worried as well.
For the believer, a wonderful tomorrow is on the way. We have excitement and anticipation. We hate that the wait seems so long. But we love knowing that we have a great big beautiful tomorrow to look forward to.
