Hebrews 13:14 (ESV) “Here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.”
Heaven is beyond our ability to comprehend. We know that nothing we know can compare. I try to imagine what that heavenly city will be like, but with all the understanding I can glean from the Bible, it’s still not enough to get an accurate picture.
I can only describe the city He has gone to prepare for us by what the Bible has given us. It is bright beyond our imagination, not from the sun, but from the holy presence of God. There are twelve foundations and twelve massive gates made of solid pearl. There are streets of transparent gold. How can I explain something like that from an earthly perspective? The city is a fifteen hundred mile cube filled with nothing but the righteous, and at the center of it is the Lord–with His people forever.
There is so much more to heaven than this, but even this tiny bit is beyond our ability to fully comprehend. We can’t imagine, but some day soon, I’ll be going there.
How about you?
