Matthew 6:34 (NASB) “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
We live in an age of anxiety and stress. Whether it’s personal concerns, family matters, financial needs, or global conditions, we all have reasons to worry and fret. Sometimes critical situations strike immediate fear in our hearts. That’s only natural. But, much of our anxiety is associated with everyday problems and our ever-increasing inability to deal with them.
We take our worries to bed with us, causing sleepless nights. In the morning we drag them out of bed with us and lug them around all day like a bag of rocks. Our tension rises with the lack of sleep and our fuses shorten. Have you ever lashed out at your spouse, child, co-worker and wonder afterwards why you did it?
Whenever we encounter circumstances we cannot change, the only one who can handle them is God. Psalm 55:22a “Give your burdens to the Lord, and He will take care of you.”
There is a song by Washington Phillips that goes: TAKE YOUR BURDEN TO THE LORD AND LEAVE IT THERE. IF YOU WOULD TRUST HIM AND NEVER DOUBT, HE WILL SURELY BRING YOU OUT. TAKE YOUR BURDEN TO THE LORD AND LEAVE IT THERE.
