I Corinthians 13:3&7 “If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it, but if I didn’t love others I would have gained nothing. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”
No matter what I say, what I believe, or what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.
The most important lesson God wants you to learn on earth is how to love. Love is the foundation of every command Jesus has given us. But, learning to love unselfishly, beyond circumstances, is not easy. We encounter instances every day that test our self-centered nature. Just drive a few miles in traffic. Our boundary of love is sometimes reached far too quickly. Stand in line at a store for an hour, and be told at the end your in the wrong line. Words of testimony may come out of your mouth unbidden.
Jesus said our love for each other, not our doctrinal beliefs, is our greatest witness to the world. Love is not to be a good part of our lives, it’s the most important part. In Corinthians 14:1a “Let love be your greatest aim.”
