John 14:15-16,18 “If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever. (18) I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”
In our world today, we see signs of real trouble and danger. Our troubles include natural disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, and floods. They also include man made dangers: terrorist bombings, rioting, political chaos, and economic struggles.
It seems like everything that can be shaken in our world is being shaken, from the shaking of the earth to the shaking of our time-honored institutions and traditions, and to the shaking of our personal values and morals. We live in an unsteady and insecure world. We have to live in this world, but we don’t have to live like the world.
Is there anything we can hold on to while the shaking is happening? Yes!
Regardless of the trial or struggle we experience, we have been given a wonderful gift to overcome it. (John 14:16) The Father sent us a Comforter who will abide with us forever, comforting us and teaching us God’s will.
