Matthew 24:37 “For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like in the days of Noah.”
Jesus emphasis is not so much on the extreme wickedness of Noah’s day, but on the people’s preoccupation with matters of everyday living: eating, drinking, marrying, giving in marriage. Judgement fell suddenly. They had received warnings in the form of Noah’s preaching for many years. 2 Peter 2:5 “Noah, a preacher of righteousness…” The ark was a massive billboard to the judgement to come, but the people were unconcerned about such matters. They were caught up in worldly concerns, the here and now. They were unconcerned about God, or eternity, or judgement. When the rains came and the water began to rise, they were swept away in the midst of their everyday activities. It was too late.
“So will the coming of the Son of Man be.” Matthew 24:39
Today Israel is our billboard! Jesus is coming soon. Never in history has everything lined up with God’s Word about the end of time as it does today. Almost all the prophesies have been fulfilled. The rest is within reach in a matter of days.
Matthew 24:34 Jesus said, “When you see the budding of the fig tree [the rebirth of Israel], this generation will not pass away until all these things [birth pains] take place.”
