I Corinthians 11:31 (NLT) “If we examine ourselves we will not be examined by God and judged in this way.”
We are constantly told to examine ourselves. Men and women are urged to check for any change in a spot or mole on their skin. Women (and men) need to check for lumps or bumps in the chest area, because that cancer is treated best the quicker it is discovered. People are warned to examine their homes for potential hazards. In certain areas, people have to keep a constant watch for mold.
God tells us to examine our hearts. If we examine our hearts daily, keeping a constant vigil on where we stand for God, checking what paths we are walking, then God won’t have to set us straight. We won’t need to be disciplined by God if we look at our lives and deal with issues that are contrary to God’s word. Take an inventory of where you stand. Is your life really in line with what God’s word says it should be?
Deuteronomy 8:3 “Real life comes by feeding on every word of God.”
2 Corinthians 13:5a “Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves.”
Nearing the time of the end, many will go to and fro, denying the faith. No matter what happens, I don’t want to deny my Lord and everything He has done for me. “Let us look closely at our ways.” Blessings do not come just from hearing the truth, but from acting on those words.
