2 Timothy 4:3-4 (KJV) “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts, shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned to fables.”
Anglican Churches in the United Kingdom are falling short of worshipers. A study found that in 2018 the attendance of the Church of England, and sister churches in Scotland and Wales, had plummeted from 40% in 1983 to just 12% in 2018. One former Archbishop warned the church was “one generation away from extinction”.
Their answer to the problem: Install put-put courses and carnival rides to attract the younger generation. Fix areas for exercise classes. Their philosophy, “The religion will be lost if we don’t do something to get the younger people in.” Therein lies the problem. The religion. That is what they’ve focused on, not the Truth.
I thought, “How terrible. Push Jesus out to bring in more of the world.” But, then I thought, “Isn’t that what we see churches doing in America?”
2 Timothy 3:5 “They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that.”
