Psalm 103:15 (NASB) “As for man, his days are like grass; As a flower of the field, so he flourishes.”
My self-image does not update as fast as my body does. Before looking in the mirror each morning, I think of myself as I was many years ago. Then, I look in the mirror and wonder who that is standing in front of me. That can’t be me. I wash my eyes a couple of times and try again. Sure enough, it’s me. Reality sinks in.
In what seems like the blink of an eye I have gone from that slender eighteen year-old, with hair, to now a not so slender man of seventy-two with sagging skin and very little hair. Where have the years gone? I think back to all the things I’ve accomplished during that time. Have I done all I can to please my God?
That leads me to ask the question. What are you doing with the short time the Lord has given you?
Solomon said long ago, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man.” Ecclesiastes 12:13 (KJV)
Luke 10:27 “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind…”
