Roy’s Blog: “Sundown Sunday”

Leviticus 23:33 (NLT) And the Lord said to Moses, “Tell the Israelites to begin the Festival of Shelters on the fifth day after the Day of Atonement.”

Last Tuesday was Yom Kippur beginning at sundown Jerusalem time. Something happened that was amazing on the evening before the beginning of Yom Kippur. It was estimated that 100,000 Jewish people came to the Western Wall to pray and cry out to God for forgiveness. This has not happened in the nation’s modern history. It shows a spiritual awakening among the Jewish people. This can’t be described other that it was simply amazing.

Beginning sundown Sunday on October 13, 2019 (our calendar) the Jewish people began celebrating the Festival of Booths, or Sukkot. Again they are celebrating the joy of the Lord and His tender care for His people. What makes this so unique is the change in mindset of the Jewish people to remember and praise God for His hand of mercy upon them. Just like the Bible says it will be at the end times.

If you haven’t given God praise lately for His hand of mercy and for the gift of His Son Jesus Christ, now would be an excellent time.
