Mark 1:35 (NIV) “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.”

Stress is a normal part of life. Let’s face it. Our society is one big nervous wreck. So many people drink, smoke, take pills for anxiety, or fill doctor’s offices trying to deal with the stress in their lives.

Jesus already gave us the perfect formula for stress free living. Prayer.

Prayer is a God-given tool for letting off steam, for getting rid of anxieties. No matter how busy Jesus got, He made it a practice to spend time alone with His Father. You have to admit Jesus had a lot of stress put on Him. He was constantly busy about His Father’s work, but always made time to be alone to commune with the Father. To cry out, and to listen.

A decompression chamber is a tool used by doctors to decompress divers who have been in deep water. They’ve found these chambers are also good for chronic sores that won’t heal. It’s usually a very solitary place.

Find a solitary, quiet place “decompression area” to be alone with God. Prayer relieves stress and anxiety by giving us a sense of care, direction, and hope.

Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God.”
