Roy’s Blog: “Out Of Egypt”

Exodus 3:10 “I will send you to Pharaoh, so that you may bring my people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt.”

When Moses encountered God in the burning bush, he was stunned by what he saw and heard. But, he obeyed God. He went to Egypt and told Pharaoh to let the children of Israel go free. The outcome of that plea was not what he expected. Pharaoh responded by adding to their workload and increasing their difficulties.

We’ve probably all experienced something similar. We obey God, but trouble soon follows. We think, “Did we do something wrong, or was God not faithful to His promise?”

We should look beyond the immediate circumstances. Hebrews 10:23b “…we must hold tight to Christ, recognizing that we have not been promised life without trouble.”

The outcome of Moses being obedient to God was that the Israelites were released from Egypt and Pharaoh’s entire army was destroyed. God’s promise of a land for the Israelites was fulfilled. But that didn’t mean they had a life free from temptations, problems, and troubles.

God’s promise was sure. The means were not easy. It is the same for us. Sometimes trouble follows when we follow God, but remember, His promises are sure.
